Shtetl Berlin Festival Opening: Zingeray & 3. Seder
Shtetl Berlin feiert die Eröffnung des diesjährigen Festivals jiddischer Kultur im Grünen Salon! Mit einer Mischung aus Sing-Along (Zingeray) und drittem Sederabend.
Das Third Seder entstand in den 1920er Jahren in Amerika, ein Community-Event aus Performance und Gesang, das sich den Pessach-Themen von sozialer Gerechtigkeit und Befreiung widmet. Inspiriert vom traditionellen Sedertisch, ist der Dritte Sederabend kein religiöses Event, sondern eine Gelegenheit, den vielen Verbindungen jiddischer Kultur zu unserem anhaltenden Kampf für Freiheit und Gerechtigkeit für Alle nachzuspüren.
Mit unseren Gastgeber:innen Sasha Lurje und Jake Schneider werden wir den Abend mit Lied, Poesie und Inspiration füllen und einen offenen Raum schaffen, in den alle herzlichst eingeladen sind.
Nach der Zingeray werden wir den Beginn des Festivals mit Jamsession, Tanz und Lekhayim feiern!
Der Eintritt ist frei und offen für Menschen jeden Alters. Spenden werden dankbar angenommen!

YURIY GURZHY & THE jUKRAINIANS
Yuriy Gurzhy, DJ, singer, guitarist, composer, author and activist from Kharkiv and Berlin, presents his latest project: the jUkrainians! Bringing together some of his favourite musical companions for an intense, thoughtful and yet most entertaining journey through his own heritage, a reflection of cultural roots in a contemporary soundscape of beats, folk song, witty lyrics, shared stories and joyful, spontaneous music making, this band makes you listen, enjoy, celebrate and dance the night away!

FORSHPIL DUO
This is what traditional Jewish music sounds like in 2024! Forshpil re-energizes traditional Yiddish songs, Hassidic nigunim and klezmer tunes with modern rhythms, harmonies and instruments. Age-old songs of love and despair induce themselves with psychedelic rock, funk, jazz and other addictive substances. Deeply rooted in tradition, this unlikely fusion feels weirdly authentic. If Pink Floyd and The Doors had ever jammed together at a Jewish wedding it would have sounded like this!

No festival without a spontaneous gathering of musical co-conspirators! Bringing together some of the finest Yiddish musicians from Berlin and beyond, the Shtetl Berlin Festival Band will make you dance to traditional klezmer music as it’s meant to be played and enjoyed.
